Still On the Market...
I've noticed two things about myself now that I've been jobless for a couple of weeks, and now that money is getting REALLY tight.
1) I hate feeling unproductive. Not to sound like a grizzled old bastard, but I've been working since I was 15, and I've grown accustomed, rightly or not, to always having something substantial to do and get accomplished during the day. This isn't to say that I've been sitting with my thumb up my arse; I've done more job-searching today, and put more apps in the mail. I just don't feel fulfilled, somehow, especially knowing that I've got excellent, marketable job skills, yet can't seem to find anything yet.
2) It's been nice having a break of sorts. One mild, fringe-benny upshot of being between jobs is that I've been able to give myself kind of a break when I'm not searching or playing gigs. I'm a firm believer in allowing myself to be lazy from time to time, and it's good kind of cool to catch up on my sleep somewhat, read a few more books, practice guitar more, and so forth. I do feel kind of guilty, however, about the circumstance I'm in, so being slothful is kind of few and far between.
